X-System | Seeing Normal

The 50mm is a classic Lens - no question about it.

I have documented my thoughts about this standard Lens and field of view somewhere on this site.

If you have been following my Journal and musings, you will know about my wonky field of view. The Nifty 50 to my eyes on a full frame did not match my normal vision. My subject appeared farther back from where I was standing.

To describe it another way, the 50mm on my full frame D750 felt like slightly cropped 35mm.

Keep this distinction in mind; slightly cropped 35mm.

This means my 50mm gave me plenty of breathing spaces / context around my subject.

When I tested my 50mm on my D500, it felt like a perfect combination for my natural eye sight and field of view.

Enter Fuji and The XF50mm F2 and The XF56.

Both of these Lens conform to how I see normally. The F2 version is fantastic for the streets; the 56mm is primarily for Portraits which is my sub passion.

The X-System 50F2 mm and 56mm 1.2 Lens are perfect Portrait Lens.

As I am typing this, I know with certainty that my Trinity Lens Kit would be:

Two Bodies - XT2 + X-Pro 2

3 Lens: 18mm F1.4, 35mm F1.4 & 56mm F1.2

If I Travel it would be one Travel Lens: The XF 18-135mm, my Speed Light and Magdome.

I NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT MY SPEED-LIGHT.

Off Camera Flash for Portraits with a 50mm Len is magical.
